Genealogy & Local History

All Research

Our local library collection includes county histories, many compiled family histories, cemetery books and a family surname file maintained by the Union County Genealogical Society. We have microfilm of local newspapers as well as many local records (see lists below).

Library staff members are happy to help you with your genealogical quest. Please contact us or call 937-642-1876.

TIP:  The best place to start when researching your Union County family is with the 78-volume Genealogical Index of Delaware and Union Counties, commonly known as the Bouic Index. This unique resource, compiled by Margaret Main Bouic, indexes many records for persons living in Union County from its beginnings to about the 1990s.

The Bouic Index is also online at midohiogen.org. Some tips for searching:

  • The actual entry from the book edition is in the Notes field. Some information from the entries has been extracted when available to fill in certain fields.
  • A person may be listed twice if Mrs. Bouic was unable to definitely identify they were the same.
  • Spouses are not linked together, nor are there family groups. These are projects we will be working on.
  • Sources are linked to the Key to Sources. Items that are held by the Marysville Public Library  or that are available online are identified. Many loose files of family information have been integrated into our surname files.
